“ Reminder of Grandma ”
My grandmother brought this all fabric doll home from Japan decades ago. I'm not sure about all the details but there's a family story about grandma being called while overseas & either I was being born or I was in the hospital & she was told I may not make it. She worried the whole flight home wondering if I would live & whether she'd ever see me.
This doll is my reminder of my grandma's love for me & her love of travel - which I am trying to follow despite my fear of flying. The fact that the doll is all fabric fascinates me. Why the head has darkened, but the hands have not confuses me. The complementary red & green draws me in with cheerfulness. Overall, it's just a touch of everything with the different textures. I display her where I see her every day & know grandma loved me.
